EU Oilseeds: The EU has purchased more than 16.7 million tonnes of oilseeds

The EU has purchased more than 16.7 million tonnes of oilseeds and oilseed products since 1 July this year.In the period from 1 July to 12 December 2021, EU countries imported more than 16.7 million tonnes of oilseeds and oilseed products derived from oilseeds, 21.3% less than in the corresponding period last year (21.24 million tonnes, including updates).

Soy products accounted for the largest share of purchases in the reporting period, at around 12.3 million tonnes. In particular, 249.9 thousand tonnes of soybean oil were purchased. Flour imports decreased by 2 million tonnes to 6.3 million tonnes compared to the previous season. Seed purchases totalled 5.76 million tonnes.

Imports of sunflower and sunflower seeds from 1 July to 12 December totalled over 1.64 million tonnes. Imports of sunflower seeds totalled 202.72 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 352 thousand tonnes by the 2020/21 marketing year. Purchases of flour - 727.86 thousand tonnes, 341 thousand tonnes less than the previous year. Oil stocks - 727.54 thousand tonnes.

Purchases of rapeseed and processed products amounted to more than 2.6 million tonnes. In particular, 281.8 thousand tonnes of flour, 272 thousand tonnes of oil and 2.07 million tonnes of rapeseed were imported.
