Falling exports in the current flaxseed season

Global flaxseed exports decreased by 14% in the period from August to November 2021 compared to the same period last year. Experts note that the decline in oilseed exports occurred against the background of a decrease in the production of this crop in Canada and Kazakhstan.

"During this period, shipments from the main exporting countries are estimated at 465 thousand tons, compared to 538 thousand tons in August-November 2020. At the same time, the main volumes in the current season were exported by Russia - 261 thousand tons (+ 11%), while Kazakhstan and Canada reduced shipments to 97 thousand tons (-37%) and 80 thousand tons (-39%), respectively. Exports from Ukraine in August-November 2021 amounted to 21 thousand tons, from the United States - 6 thousand tons," the report says.

According to OilWorld (Germany) analysts, the largest share of flax in the reporting period was imported to the territory of EU countries - 236 thousand tons, which is slightly higher than in the same period in 2020.

Next comes China with an indicator of 121 thousand tons (previous year: 235 thousand tons). The third position is occupied by the United States - 41 thousand tons (last year: 31 thousand tons).

Turkey shows the most significant increase from August to November with surging imports from 2 thousand tons to 34 thousand tons.
