Estimated Production of 11.3 Million Tonnes of Mustard in India

The country's record production of 11.3 million tonnes of mustard in the current year is estimated in the Seminar jointly organized by COIT and MOPA in Jaipur. The sowing of mustard in the country is at the record this year, but due to the adverse environment, the production of mustard crops has been estimated to be less than the official estimate.

Rajasthan will have a crop of 5.2 million tonnes

According to the estimates, Rajasthan, the country's largest mustard-producing state, will have a crop of 5.2 million tonnes this year, while 1.6 million tonnes in Madhya Pradesh and 1.4 million tonnes in Uttar Pradesh.

In this seminar organized by COIT and MOPA, the surveying companies said in their reports that this year due to the onset of summer, the mustard crop had ripened earlier, and due to its effect, its yield has also decreased. Further, the carry-over stock of mustard is estimated to be 3 to 7 million tonnes in the current year.

As per data released by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India's annual oilseeds output rose by 4% during last year's Rabi season, driven by higher production of mustard and groundnut.

Procurement

Haped procured 20000 tonnes of mustard on March 13 from Haryana. Mustard procurement has also been announced in other states of the country, and the procurement is likely to start soon. This year, if procurement is started late by the government, then there can be a significant impact on the farmers. The crop is good, but due to low prices, there is a demand for first purchases from the farmers.

The mustard seeds brown bold sortex prices were recorded at $0,70 per kg FOB.
