Challenges Ahead for Turkish Apricot Industry: Frost Effects and Stock Concerns

Türkiye's apricot export figure in March was 6 thousand 117 tons and 226 kilograms. There are 4 months left until the start of the new season and it seems that the current stocks will not be enough. April figures will be lower due to the 10-day holiday. The situation in stocks will become clear at the end of May

As temperatures increased, the effects of regional frosts began to become evident. Some regions of Türkiye were not affected by frost at all, but sudden and high temperatures also affected the gardens there. Many farmers caused the trees to drop their fruit. TARSİM officials, who came to visit to assess the damage, say that there was a physiological leak. Either inadequate pesticide application or the medication's inability to adequately prevent diseases affected apricot trees. Officials, who will visit again in June to assess the damage, said that they will be able to talk more clearly about the new season's harvest amount.
