Ukraine's grain exports remain robust, nearing 4.5 million tonnes in April alone, according to data released by the State Customs Service. This substantial export volume underscores Ukraine's significant role in the global grain market.

Export Performance

Since the beginning of the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine has exported a total of 39.464 million tonnes of grains and pulses. Notably, April shipments accounted for 4.413 million tonnes, marking a substantial contribution to the overall export volume.

Year-on-Year Comparison

Comparing to the same period last year, total grain shipments by April 22 were slightly lower, standing at 40.742 million tonnes. However, April exports saw a significant increase compared to the previous year, indicating a strong performance in the current marketing year.

Breakdown by Grain Type

• Wheat: Ukraine exported 15.128 million tonnes of wheat since the beginning of the season, including 1.286 million tonnes in April.
• Barley:Barley exports amounted to 2.154 million tonnes, with 183 thousand tonnes shipped in April.
• Rye: Rye exports remained relatively low at 1.2 thousand tonnes, including 0.2 thousand tonnes in April.
• Corn: Corn exports recorded a substantial volume of 21.707 million tonnes, with 2.937 million tonnes shipped in April.

Flour Export Performance

Ukraine's flour exports, including wheat flour, totaled 84.6 thousand tonnes as of April 22, slightly lower than the previous year's figure of 125.4 thousand tonnes. April witnessed the export of 5.3 thousand tonnes of flour, including 4.8 thousand tonnes of wheat flour.

Ukraine's grain export performance remains strong, with April shipments contributing significantly to the overall export volume. Despite some variations compared to the previous year, Ukraine continues to assert its position as a key player in the global grain trade, offering a diverse range of grains and pulses to international markets.
