Turkish Dried Fig Market Faces Unusual Season, Prices Surge Amidst Low Harvest
There is a very different season for dried figs in Türkiye this year. Market prices rose at abnormal levels, remained at the same level for a while, and started to rise slightly (50 cents) as of last week. Many manufacturers are out of products. Large export companies continue their exports with the stocks they previously made. The low harvest at the beginning of the season will also bring the end of the season earlier than normal. Air temperatures do not present a danger for dry fig trees for now, but it is difficult to predict what they will be like in the coming months. If there is a dry summer, early irrigation and spraying costs may increase and the new season's harvest may be opened at high prices.
Despite %5 decrease in quantity in dried fig exports in the first of half of the season there was %21 increase in value owing to the %27 increase in the export price in dollar terms
