Turkish Dried Apricot Prices Decline Post-Holiday, Farmers and Exporters Express Concerns

Dried apricots in Türkiye started the week with a decline after a long holiday and continue to decline day by day. This decline is not normal as we approach the end of the season. While prices were expected to rise further due to the scarcity of products to be exported, farmers put their products on sale to meet their post-holiday needs, which caused a decrease in prices. Large exporting companies also took advantage of the situation and purchased products for stock. While this situation relieved exports, it worried farmers. Still, exporting companies are hesitant to give prices because this is not a long-term decline. It shows that the new season prices will be high due to increasing cost expenses and very variable weather. . The fact that prices are not announced in the apricot stock market leaves the producers indecisive.

Apricot trees have turned from flower to fruit. Fresh apricots will begin to be collected at the end of the month in the warmer southern parts. As the fruits ripen in the northern parts, clearer information about the new season quantity will be available around mid-May. It is difficult to predict the new season for now.
