First "Real" Container Vessel in Odesa Port since the Beginning of the War

First "Real" Container Vessel in Odesa Port since the Beginning of the War

On April 21, the "real" container vessel Pros Hope, which came from China, docked at one of the ports of Great Odesa

Grain corridors from Ukrainian sea ports has saved local agricultural industry from collapse. Ukraine managed to unblock the biggest ports in Odesa and to export millions tons of grains despite regular air attacks of Russian troops. But it should be noted that all this time export in sea containers from Odesa was not possible. Container vessels just couldn't enter Ukrainian sea ports. All container export could be done mainly through the neighbour Constanta or Gdansk ports. It made the logistics costs increase almost twice.

Only since the beginning of April 2024, two feeder container vessels managed by a Ukrainian company, T Mare and T Moon, have been working on the line connecting Chornomorsk port with the Turkish port of Yalova and Romanian Constanta.

So Pros Hope became the first specialised container vessel that entered Ukrainian deep water port since February 2022. The container vessel is operated by the German company Interorient Marine Services.

Regular entries of container vessels to Odessa could significantly reduce the logistics costs of Ukrainian exporters. In turn, this would significantly increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian goods on the world market.
