Global Tree Nut Production Set to Rise by 8% in 2024-25

Projected Increase in Tree Nut Production

Significant Increases in Pine Nuts, Almonds, and Hazelnuts Forecasted

The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) forecasts an 8 percent rise in global tree nut production for the 2024-25 season, reaching 6.2 million tonnes (kernel basis, except pistachios in-shell) from 2023-24.

Although it's early in the season, the 41st World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress noted that most tree nut crops are expected to increase.
  • Pine nuts, almonds, and hazelnuts are projected to rise by 76 percent, 22 percent, and 20 percent, respectively.
  • Macadamias, pistachios, Brazil nuts, and walnuts foresee production increases between 2 and 8 percent above the previous season.
  • Early estimates suggest 2024-25 peanut production will reach around 50 million tonnes (in-shell basis).
  • Dried fruit production will increase to 3.4 million tonnes, up 4 percent from 2023-24.

These discussions underscored the importance of addressing environmental and economic factors to ensure the industry's future growth and stability.
