Rajasthan Traders Concerned Over Weak Coriander Sales

Rajasthan Traders Concerned Over Weak Coriander Sales

Weak Coriander Sales Worry Rajasthan Traders

For the past few days, coriander sales have been notably weak, causing concern among traders in Rajasthan. According to trade sources, the slowdown in sales has particularly affected the badiya colored goods segment. Despite a significant reduction in coriander arrivals in the producing areas, market sentiment remains subdued due to sluggish demand.

Coriander Prices Remain Stable Despite Low Arrivals

Coriander Badami and Eagle remained stable at $1,02 to $1,03 and $1,07 to $1,09 per kg, respectively, due to sluggish business activities in the local Dhoka grocery market. Despite decreased arrivals, prices in Ramganj Mandi and Baran Mandi have remained unchanged. Devishankar, a trader from Ramganj Mandi, noted that the low prices led to minimal sales by farmers, reducing arrivals to around 2,000-2,500 sacks, down from 4,000 sacks previously.

Traders Adapt to Changing Demand and Supply

In Baran, coriander arrivals decreased to about 1,000-1,200 sacks. Despite this reduction, prices remained at previous levels, with coriander Badami and Eagle at $0,79 to $0,82 and $0,85 to $0,89 per kg, respectively. Devishankar highlighted that while normal coriander prices remain stable, Rangdar and Bandiya Rangdar goods saw a decline of $0,02 to $0,03 per kg due to weaker-than-usual sales.

Changing Market Practices in Coriander Trade

No coriander buyers are coming forward in the mandis. With the monsoon already reaching South and East India, the usual seasonal demand has not materialized. Coriander is now available year-round, eliminating the need for traders to stockpile. This change in availability has led traders to purchase coriander only as needed, knowing they can access it at any time. Consequently, the traditional practice of stockpiling coriander has diminished.

Rajasthan traders are facing challenges due to weak coriander sales and reduced arrivals. Despite stable prices, the market sentiment remains low. Changing availability patterns have altered traditional stocking practices, affecting the overall market dynamics.
