Turkish Farmers Dispute New Season Dried Apricot Yield Estimates Amid Price Concerns
The yield of dried apricots announced at the beginning of the week made Turkish producers very angry. The new season yield was announced as 107517 tons. Farmers claimed that there was no real figure for the 77 thousand tons announced last year, and that around 55 thousand tons were exported. Producers think that this announced high yield is intended to reduce prices.
Adverse weather conditions caused damage to apricot orchards in Malatya, affecting the new crop. That's why these numbers are not real in the eyes of the farmer. How this situation will affect prices will become clear this week after the 10-day holiday.
