Record Export Volumes
As of June 21, Ukraine has exported an impressive
49.54 million tons of grains and legumes since the beginning of the 2023/24 marketing year, according to the State Customs Service. This includes
2.608 million tons shipped in June alone, as reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
Comparison to Previous Year
This year's export volume has already surpassed the total shipment volume recorded by June 26 last year, which stood at
48.424 million tons, with
3.087 million tons shipped in June 2022.
Breakdown of Exports by Crop
Since the beginning of the current season, the following export figures have been recorded:
- Wheat: 18.123 million tons (686 thousand tons in June) compared to 16.6 million tons as of June 26, 2023.
- Barley: 2.461 million tons (75 thousand tons) compared to 2.68 million tons last year.
- Rye: 1.6 thousand tons (0 in June) compared to 18 thousand tons last year.
- Corn: 28.416 million tons (1.366 million tons) compared to 28.8 million tons last year.
Flour Exports Lagging
Despite the significant grain exports, the cumulative export of Ukrainian flour as of June 21 remains considerably lower than last year's figure. This year's flour exports are estimated at 9
6.7 thousand tons (4.2 thousand tons in June), including wheat flour exports of
91.3 thousand tons (4.1 thousand tons in June), compared to
151 thousand tons last year.
