Peru Aims to Boost Exports of Coffee, Cocoa, and Chocolate to Russia
Peruvian Government's Export Plans
The Peruvian government plans to increase the volume of cocoa, coffee, and chocolate exports to Russia, according to the Peruvian ambassador in Moscow, Juan Genaro del Campo Rodríguez.Prospects for Cocoa and Coffee Exports
“We have very good prospects for cocoa and chocolate, we want to increase cocoa exports to the Russian Federation. Another important segment for us is the supply of coffee to Russia. Peruvian coffee is already known in Russia. But we want to increase its exports,” said Rodríguez in an interview with the Tass agency.“I think we have a very big market in Russia. Great opportunities for our coffee,” added the diplomat. Peruvian producers already participate in several gastronomic events in Russia, such as the WorldFood Moscow fair, which takes place every September in the Russian capital.
Russia's Foreign Trade and Strategic Shifts
Complementing this, Dr. Pavel Dorokhin, Director of Russian Commercial Representation in Peru, said: "Russia's foreign trade in 2023 was US$710.2 billion with a positive balance of US$140 billion. Russia's exports to European countries decreased by 68% in 2023. It is our long-term decision to direct it towards friendly countries: the structure of non-resource exports changed in its favor.There is talk of double-digit growth in deliveries:
- to Türkiye, by 36%;
- China, 26%;
- Egypt, 57%;
- Brazil, 37%;
- Saudi Arabia, 87%.
