Brazil Exports 3.2 Million Tons of Sugar in June, an Increase of 11.7%

The month of July started with great news in Brazil regarding the sugar exports.June/2024 was a incredible month, 3.2 million tons of the sweetener were shipped, an annual increase of 11.7%. In relation to the previous month, the increase was 13.9%.

Detailed export data was released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) last Thursday, 4th.
  • With an average price of US$482.52 per ton, an annual decline of 3.1%, revenue in June was US$1.54 billion, an increase of 8.3% compared to the US$1.43 billion seen in the same period of 2023.

  • Egypt (215.08 thousand t)
Year-to-date, revenue from international sugar sales reached US$8.66 billion, an annual increase of 62.8%. Between January and June, the volume of sweetener exported totaled 16.76 million tons (+49.1%), which were traded at an average price of US$516.46/t (+9.2%).

Raw and refined sugar

Considering the type of product, Brazil exported 2.75 million tons of raw sugar, an increase of 9.9% compared to the 2.51 million tons shipped in June 2023. In the monthly comparison, in turn, the increase was of 9.5%.

The average price, which reached US$470.47/t, represented a drop of 3.5% in the annual comparison and a drop of 2.3% compared to the previous month. Even so, due to the higher volume, revenue from raw sugar reached US$ 1.3 billion in June, an increase of 6% compared to the US$ 1.22 billion seen in the same period last year.

The remaining 448.42 thousand tons were refined sugar, an increase of 24.1% compared to the previous year. Compared to May, there was an increase of 51%. Negotiated for an average of US$556.51/t, the product generated revenue of US$249.55 million, an annual increase of 21.7%.
