Is the Turkish Raisin Market Headed for a Price Boom?
Turkish raisins are rapidly taking their place in markets. Grapes collected from vineyards continue to dry in exhibitions. On the other hand, farmers are trying to sell at the price they want. Traders are trying to offer more prices than businesses and stock up because raisin prices are expected to increase in the coming months.
Low yield
This year's low yield in vineyards will push prices even higher than last season, around 5 USD is expected after the new year. For now, raw materials are sold for around 200 TL, direct purchase from farmers. However, this year's low yield is causing wine producers to have difficulty finding raw materials, and the competition between wine producers and raisin exporters seems to benefit farmers. Prices will become clearer in the first shipments to be made in September.
