Rain Disaster in Manisa: Farmers Await Relief!

Rain Disaster in Manisa: Farmers Await Relief!

The capital of raisins, Manisa, had a rainy week. The expected heavy rainfall caught farmers off guard. Many grapes that were drying were flooded. The yield this season is not much, but the quality of the grapes is very good, but it is not yet clear whether the raisins damaged by these recent rains will affect the total yield or not. However, farmers want Manisa to be declared a disaster area and for the state to cover the cost. This situation will be reflected in raw material and export prices, but it is not yet clear how much it will affect the increase in prices.

For now, 8 and 9 grapes are offered to buyers at 3600 Euros. The state has planned a new aid package to support beekeeping. 50% of the fuel cost and 25% of the fertilizer cost will be covered for the beginning. These rates are expected to increase to 100% after the planned agriculture model is implemented. If this situation is put into practice, raisin farmers who have suffered a yield loss for the first time in the last 2 years will be relieved a little.
