Malatya: Farmers Hold Back as Dried Apricot Exports Surge

The activity continues in Malatya, the capital of dried apricots. After the price announcement of TMO, the fact that traders offered to buy below this price caused the farmers not to put their goods on the local market. The prices of dried apricots have been determined. TMO’s top price offer for dried apricots stands at 155 TL (€4.18).

The Ĺžire market was quite stagnant last week. Exports continue on their normal course, and although the prices are not at the desired level for the farmer, the exporter continues to export with the stocks purchased at the beginning of the season, even if the farmer does not want to sell his product.

Although the majority of dried apricots exported to 115 countries go to European countries, China started the season by purchasing sun-dried ones. Prices continue at the same level for now. Farmers continue to expect them to increase. If we compare it with last year, while the export amount in August 2023 was 5516 tons, this figure was 7289 tons in August 2024.
