Sunflower Seeds Market: Harvest Setbacks in Eastern Europe Drive Prices Higher

Sunflower Seeds Market: Harvest Setbacks in Eastern Europe Drive Prices Higher

Price Development

  • Euronext: Sunflower seed prices increased to €0.95/kg, driven by harvest setbacks in Eastern Europe.
  • CME: Prices stood at €0.92/kg, as similar concerns over yields in Ukraine and Romania supported the market.

Weather Forecast

In Ukraine and Romania, light rain over the next week, combined with temperatures between 12°C and 22°C, may further slow down the harvest. This could exacerbate existing supply constraints and push prices higher.

Outlook: Prices are expected to remain elevated in the short term, with ongoing weather-related harvest delays and lower yields contributing to tighter supply. If the harvest does not accelerate soon, further price increases could be expected heading into November.
