Conab: Brazil’s Soybean Harvest Expected to Hit 166 Million Tons

Brazil's National Agriculture Agency (Conab) forecasts a significant rise in soybean production this season, estimating a 12.7% increase compared to last year. Despite a slower expansion in planting areas, the country is set for a record harvest.

Soybean Harvest to See Double-Digit Growth

Conab has projected Brazil's 2024/25 soybean harvest to reach 166.05 million tons, up 12.7% from the previous season. While farmers have only allocated 2.8% more land to soybeans—totaling 47.33 million hectares—this marks the smallest annual growth in six years, driven by last season's lower global prices. Conab expects the expansion of planting areas to continue slowing in the future.

Increased Yield Offsets Delayed Planting

Even though planting has been delayed in key states due to insufficient rainfall, Conab remains optimistic about growth, citing improved yields. The agency predicts that the rise in productivity will compensate for the slower pace of planting.

Soybean Exports Set to Soar in 2025

Brazil's soybean exports are forecast to reach 105.54 million tons in 2025, further solidifying the country’s position as a global leader in soybean production and trade. Ending stocks for the season are expected to total 4.16 million tons, according to Conab’s report.

Record-Breaking Grain and Oilseed Production

Looking at Brazil's overall grain and oilseed sector, Conab projects total production for 2024/25 to reach a record 322.47 million tons, an 8.3% increase from the previous season. This significant growth is driven by the strong performance of soybean production, alongside other key crops.
