Export Data Reflects Slight Dip in Numbers
Turmeric exports have seen a slight dip in the first few months of the current financial year, but there’s still hope for recovery. From April to July 2024, 61,609 tonnes of turmeric were exported from India, which is roughly 10,000 tonnes less than the 71,617 tonnes shipped during the same period last year. The trend shows a decline in turmeric exports during the initial months, but a recovery in July brings some optimism for traders.Decline in Turmeric Exports – A Yearly Comparison
In the first quarter of 2024, turmeric exports took a hit:- In April, the export volume dropped from 19,591 tonnes last year to 14,109 tonnes this year.
- May saw a similar dip, from 19,828 tonnes down to 17,415 tonnes.
- June followed suit with a drop from 18,357 tonnes to 14,974 tonnes.
Full-Year 2023-24 Export Data
Looking at the entire 2023-24 financial year, India exported a total of 0.162 million tonnes of turmeric. Monthly shipments for the latter part of 2023 are as follows:- August 2023: 11,323 tonnes
- September 2023: 9,086 tonnes
- October 2023: 10,138 tonnes
- November 2023: 8,582 tonnes
- December 2023: 10,426 tonnes
- January 2024: 10,492 tonnes
- February 2024: 12,923 tonnes
- March 2024: 17,433 tonnes
