Yunnan’s New White Kidney Bean Season Sees Price Drop Amid High Supply

Yunnan’s New White Kidney Bean Season Sees Price Drop Amid High Supply

The new season of large white kidney beans from Yunnan, China, has brought a higher production volume and increased planting area. While prices have dropped recently, large white kidney beans remain more expensive than other varieties, slowing down sales.

Price Trends and Market Conditions

Market participants report that prices, though lower than before, are still high relative to other kidney beans, slowing sales further. Forecasts suggest that prices may continue to decline as more stock arrives. Many exporters have paused new offers due to current conditions.

Current Pricing and Product Specifications

The large white kidney beans are currently available in 25kg PP bags, with a moisture limit of 16% and a purity of 99.5%. These beans typically measure between 40-60 pieces per 100 grams. Key pricing details for shipments from Dalian, China, are as follows:
  • FOB Dalian (Conventional): $3,100–3,150/mt
  • FOB Dalian (Organic): $3,180–3,230/mt
  • Delivery is estimated within 20 days of contract finalization.
Each 20-foot container has a loading capacity of 22 metric tons.

Export Outlook and Market Impact

The surge in production and current high prices appear to be slowing buyer interest, and continued harvest is expected to add downward pressure to prices over the coming weeks. Exporters are cautious, with many pausing new offers until the market adjusts further.

Conclusion

As Yunnan’s white kidney bean season progresses, growers and exporters are facing a market shift, with increased supply placing pressure on prices. Buyers and sellers will be closely monitoring trends as seasonal harvests continue, determining how the market will respond to these developments.
