Mustard Sowing in Rajasthan Reaches 18,76 Million Hectares
Strong Start to Mustard Sowing
By the end of October, rapeseed and mustard sowing in Rajasthan covered approximately 18.76 million hectares, as per the Rajasthan Agriculture Department. This meets about 46% of the state’s goal for the 2024-25 rabi season. While Rajasthan’s target for mustard is 40.50 million hectares this year (up from last year’s 40.01 million hectares), the current sown area is slightly below last year’s 22 million hectares at the same time.
Favorable Conditions Boost Sowing
Above-average monsoon rains and good reservoir levels have created positive conditions for this year’s rabi crops. This increase in soil moisture is likely to help farmers expand their planting areas. In addition to mustard, gram (chana) sowing covered 7.25 million hectares, reaching around a third of the target. Overall rabi pulses were planted in about 7.29 million hectares, meeting close to one-third of the state’s seasonal goal.
Wheat and Barley Sowing Slower to Start
Wheat and barley planting has begun at a slower pace, covering just 55,845 hectares so far—1.56% of the targeted 35.81 million hectares. Of this, wheat sowing stands at 45,520 hectares, with Rajasthan aiming to reach 32 million hectares for the season. Conclusion: Strong Progress in Mustard
As the season continues, mustard sowing shows strong progress, while wheat and barley are expected to pick up pace soon. Favorable moisture and weather conditions provide an encouraging outlook for all rabi crops.Click here to reach our trading platfrom CMBroker
