Ukraine's Corn Harvest Nears Completion: Gross Collection Exceeds 18 Million Tons
As the corn harvest in Ukraine comes to a close, the country has collected 18.293 million tons of corn, or 75.9% of the area sown with the crop. The average yield stands at 59.5 quintals per hectare. This data, provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and State Statistics, highlights both the progress and challenges of this year's harvest.
However, when compared to last year’s results—31 million tons harvested at a yield of 78.1 centners per hectare—this year’s figures reveal a significant decrease. The drop in yield reflects a range of challenges faced by farmers, including unpredictable weather and other market conditions.
In total, Ukraine is expected to harvest around 75 million tons of grain and oil crops this year, a figure that will help support both domestic consumption and international food security needs.
