Ukraine’s Grain Exports Surge by Over 50% as of November 11

The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reports that Ukraine’s grain exports for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, beginning in July, have reached 15.3 million tons as of November 11. This marks a 51.5% rise from the same period last year, when exports totaled 10.1 million tons, and reflects steady week-to-week growth from the previous week’s 14.66 million tons, which was already showing a 49.7% annual increase.

Early November Exports: Slight Dip Compared to Last Year

From November 1 to November 11, Ukraine’s grain exports hit 900,000 tons, slightly surpassing last year’s volume of 860,000 tons for the same period.

Year-to-Date Export Highlights for Key Grains

This year’s wheat export volume has surged to 7.96 million tons, up from 4.97 million tons in the previous year. Corn exports are also up, reaching 5.35 million tons compared to last year’s 4.3 million tons. Barley exports have climbed as well, with 1.71 million tons exported so far this year, up from 700,000 tons last year.

Annual Overview of the Previous Fiscal Year

In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, which also began in July, Ukraine exported a total of 50.826 million tons of grain, representing a 3.2% increase over the 49.236 million tons exported in the prior year. The breakdown includes 18.402 million tons of wheat, up from 16.894 million tons; 29.389 million tons of corn, a slight increase from 29.228 million tons; and 2.491 million tons of barley, a slight drop from the previous year’s 2.712 million tons.

Conclusion:

With strong year-on-year growth, Ukraine’s grain exports appear on track to continue at a high pace, supported by global demand for key crops like wheat and corn. Farmers and traders may find favorable conditions for wheat and corn in particular, as the country sustains its export momentum. For optimal planning, stakeholders should monitor global market trends and logistical factors influencing future exports.
