Turkey’s hazelnut industry has achieved remarkable success in 2024, with exports and related product sales reaching impressive levels in the first ten months of the year. According to the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, Turkey’s hazelnut exports totaled 254,000 tons, generating $2,06 billion in foreign currency—a strong indicator of the growing global demand for Turkish hazelnuts.

From January to October 2024, Turkey’s hazelnut exports rose by 20%, reaching 139,000 tons. This increase in quantity has translated into a 57% surge in revenue, bringing in $1,14 billion, a notable achievement for the industry. The performance underscores Turkey’s dominant position in the global hazelnut market, further solidified by the growing international demand.Processed Hazelnut Products Soar
The processed hazelnut sector also showed impressive growth, with 916 million units of processed products sold. This marks a 7% increase in quantity and a 34% rise in revenue. In a particularly striking development, from September 1 to October 31, 2024, Turkey’s shelled hazelnut exports surged by 653% in quantity, reaching 566 tons. This dramatic rise in quantity coincided with a 736% increase in revenue, generating 2.16 million lira. Shelled hazelnut exports, from January to October 2024, grew by 179% in quantity and 241% in revenue, totaling $3,08 million.Rising Prices and Optimistic Outlook
The surge in global demand has contributed to a 46% rise in the unit price of hazelnuts, despite a 14% increase in production.
