While Spain and Israel expanded their imports, traditional buyers showed varying trends. Germany, a leading importer in 2023/24 with 450 tonnes, made no purchases this season. Poland, another significant market, reduced its imports by 28%, buying 320 tonnes compared to 480 tonnes in the same period last year. Lower Production Meets Higher Export Potential

Despite the impressive export numbers, Ukraine’s rye production in 2024 faced a 10% decline, with total output estimated at 209,000 tonnes. However, export potential remains strong, with forecasts suggesting total exports could reach 20,000 tonnes for the season—ten times higher than last year’s figures.
