In 2024, Vietnam’s cinnamon industry brought in significant revenue, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to the country’s economy. This success comes from a combination of stable production and increasing global demand. Even with challenges like Typhoon Yagi, which caused severe weather disruptions, Vietnam managed to maintain favorable cinnamon harvests, producing about 80,000 tonnes, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA).Export Growth in Numbers
Vietnam exported an impressive 99,874 tonnes of cinnamon in 2024, generating a total export turnover of USD 275 million. Compared to 2023, this represents nearly a 12% increase in export volume and a 5.2% rise in revenue. India stood out as the largest buyer of Vietnamese cinnamon in 2024, importing almost 36,000 tonnes, which made up 36% of the total export volume. The United States followed as the second-largest market, purchasing 11,000 tonnes (about 11% of the exports). Meanwhile, Bangladesh emerged as a fast-growing buyer, securing the third spot with 7,928 tonnes, or 8% of the total exports. Exports to Bangladesh saw a remarkable growth of 43% compared to 2023, showing Vietnam’s expanding reach in this market.A Bright Future for Vietnamese Cinnamon
