Indian Fenugreek Prices Stay Low as Supply Increases
Higher Fenugreek Production Expected Due to Favorable Weather
India’s fenugreek production is set to increase this season. Favorable weather and strong carryover stock from the last harvest are supporting higher yields. Farmers in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the top fenugreek-producing states, report healthy crop conditions. The abundant supply is keeping prices under pressure.Fenugreek is usually sown between October and December. It takes three to four months to mature, with harvesting from March to April. Plants start flowering within 60 to 90 days of sowing, and the crop is ready for harvest about 30 days later. With the current weather boosting growth, production is expected to stay high, reinforcing weak price trends.
Market Prices and Quality Grades
Fenugreek is priced based on seed size and color. The latest rates in Delhi’s Khari Baoli market are:- Normal quality: USD 0,77 - 0,83 per kg
- Good quality: USD 0,89 - 0,93 per kg
Steady Demand Due to Widespread Uses
Fenugreek seeds have many uses, especially in Ayurvedic medicine and home remedies. They help with digestion, body temperature regulation, and heart health. The spice is also widely used in soups, spice blends, chutneys, hair care, and skincare products.Despite this strong demand, prices remain weak due to ample supply. No major bullish factors are influencing the market. Prices are unlikely to rise unless export demand suddenly increases or unexpected crop damage occurs.
Conclusion: Cautious Buying Recommended
With supply levels high and no immediate price hikes expected, bulk buyers and traders should purchase gradually instead of making large investments. If export demand unexpectedly strengthens, fenugreek prices could trend upward in the coming months.Click here to reach our trading platfrom CMBroker
