Bayer Expands Spring Corn Initiative in Uttar Pradesh to Boost Farmer Productivity

Bayer Promotes Spring Corn Farming in Uttar Pradesh

Bayer is actively engaging with farmers across Uttar Pradesh, India. It helps through a series of workshops aimed at promoting spring corn cultivation as a key crop for food, animal feed, and sustainable fuel. The initiative focuses on educating smallholder farmers about advanced crop management techniques to improve their yields and income. Bayer’s goal is to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s role in India’s corn production while helping farmers adopt sustainable farming practices.

Corn farming contributes significantly to the Indian economy. It is generating over 1,000 million man-days of employment and adding USD 4,80 billion to the national GDP. As domestic and global demand for corn rises, Bayer is introducing cutting-edge research and innovative solutions to enhance productivity and move India toward self-sufficiency in corn production.

Workshops to Train Farmers on Sustainable Corn Cultivation

The workshops, which started on January 27 and will continue until February 14, focus on modern agronomic techniques to maximize corn productivity. The interactive sessions include live demonstrations of best farming practices, allowing farmers to witness new methods in action.

Bayer is also sharing success stories from farmers who have improved their yields using DEKALB hybrid seeds. Agricultural experts are guiding participants on sustainable soil management and eco-friendly cultivation techniques, ensuring higher yields while maintaining long-term soil health.

According to Mohan Babu, Cluster Commercial Lead, CropScience Division of Bayer in India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, the workshops are designed to equip farmers with the right tools, knowledge, and support to meet the growing demand for corn. He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh plays a vital role in India’s corn production, and strengthening corn cultivation in the state will contribute to food security, biofuel production, and economic growth for smallholder farmers.

DEKALB Hybrid Seeds for High-Yield and Sustainability

Farmers attending the workshops will learn about DEKALB Spring hybrids, which are designed for high adaptability, superior standability, and high-quality grain production. DEKALB Spring hybrids contain a high starch content of 80-85%, making them ideal for ethanol production in distilleries. They are also highly suitable for silage cultivation, providing a reliable source of animal feed. Bayer aims to introduce these hybrids across Uttar Pradesh, helping farmers increase their profits while adopting more sustainable farming practices.

Conclusion: Bayer’s Initiative to Strengthen Corn Farming in India

By launching these farmer workshops, Bayer is taking a proactive approach to enhancing corn productivity in Uttar Pradesh. Through training, innovation, and hybrid seed solutions, the initiative aims to create a more self-sufficient and resilient corn industry.
