Ukraine’s Soybean Meal Exports Reach Record Levels

Ukraine has emerged as one of the top three suppliers of soybean meal to the European Union (EU) in the 2024/25 marketing year. The country’s share in the EU market has grown to 4%, up from 3% in the previous season. Strong demand and attractive pricing have fueled this rapid increase.

Rising Export Volumes Strengthen Ukraine’s Market Position

According to the European Commission, Ukraine’s soybean meal exports to the EU reached 429,000 tonnes between July 2024 and early February 2025, marking a 72% increase from the same period last season. This sharp rise is largely attributed to Ukraine’s increased processing capacity and strong demand from EU buyers.

Competitive Pricing and Increased Processing Drive Growth

Ukraine has benefited from improved soybean processing infrastructure, allowing larger export volumes. The country’s ability to provide soybean meal at USD 0,62 to 0,64 per kg has made it a preferred supplier. Previously, nearly 90% of Ukraine’s soybean meal exports were transported by rail via its western borders. However, increased port access has now allowed for large shipments via water routes, improving cost efficiency.

Key EU Buyers of Ukrainian Soybean Meal

The largest importers of Ukrainian soybean meal in the EU include Poland and Hungary, which have significantly increased their purchases. Additionally, Spain and France have ramped up imports since December 2024, further solidifying Ukraine’s position in the EU market.
