Vietnam's turmeric exports brought in a total of USD 12,8 million in the first two months of 2025, reflecting strong global demand. Export volumes reached 5,949 tonnes, up nearly 31% in volume and around 70% in value compared to the same period in 2024.Originally from India, turmeric now flourishes widely across Vietnam. It grows successfully in coastal regions as well as highland areas above 1,500 meters. By 2021, Vietnam had cultivated over 50,000 hectares of turmeric, mainly in provinces like Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, and Dak Nong. Vietnamese turmeric is especially valued for its high curcumin content (3%–5%), vibrant color, pleasant aroma, and absence of bitterness.

Vietnamese turmeric powder sells for around USD 2,00–2,50 per kg, significantly cheaper than Indian turmeric, priced at USD 3,00–3,50 per kg.Strong Potential for Vietnam’s Spice Industry
Vietnam currently has about 500,000 hectares under spice cultivation, with more than 400 companies actively involved in spice production and export. However, the industry has realized only about 40–50% of its full potential. Given its competitive production costs and excellent quality, Vietnam has substantial opportunities to expand further in the global market.Beyond cooking, turmeric is highly regarded for its curcumin content, known for anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, liver-protective, and skin-improving properties.
